Tsunami Advisory Issued
On Saturday evening 1/15/2022, a tsunami warning was issued after a volcanic eruption with ash and steam occurred. The volcano sent tsunami waves crashing on the shores of Tonga. The tsunami waves caused some damage to New Zealand and Santa Cruz, CA.
However, alerts were issued for Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, and the U.S. Pacific. According to geologists, the eruption caused the same magnitude as a 5.8 earthquake.
This is important to know and understand because volcanos or earthquakes that are strong enough to cause a tsunami can later cause flooding into streets, neighborhoods, and buildings. Not only can it cause extreme hazards, but it can also affect hundreds of homes.
When flooding occurs in a home, all electricity should be turned off for the safety of others. SERVPRO technicians can assess the damage on the property with the correct tools and materials to do it safely.
SERVPRO of Westminster has the equipment and manpower to soak up any water contents, test moisture levels, and detect any mold on the property.
Floods can occur from natural disasters, failed pluming, and/ or sewage backup. Regardless of how it started, SERVPRO will always provide its services in the event of an emergency.
